Notations

Important : A,B,C,D,… valent pour 8 mesures ; et a,b,c,d … valent pour 4 mesures. Pour les figures de danse, l’unité de mesure est le « bar ». L’enchaînement d’une série de figures de danses donne le nombre total des mesures d’une « suite ». Aussi les répétitions des diverses parties de chacun des morceaux (« Tunes »), joués pour cette « suite » par les musiciens, sont calculées pour obtenir ce total. Ainsi : (AB) x2 est la notation simplifiée de AB-AB Quelques cas pour s’adapter au nombre de « bars » nécessaires : 1) l’indication : « ABB-(AABB) x2 » signifie que, la 1° fois, la partie A n’est pas répétée, alors qu’elle l’est ensuite ; 2) tandis que « AAABB-(AABB) x2 » signifie : la 1° fois, la partie A est jouée 3 fois, au lieu de 2 fois ensuite.
